Construction and working of hot air generators
The three segments of hot air generators are the combustion chamber, the conical venturi mixing chamber and the outlet chamber. The burner wall is at one end of the combustion chamber. The burner fitted at one end of the combustion chamber fire directly into the chamber. Dilution of air is injected into the air heater by a forced draught centrifugal fan that mixes the products of combustion in the conical venturi mixing chamber, also lined with insulation material. Hot air at desired temperature and quantity will come out from the outlet chamber that is also lined with insulation material.
Application
Heat air generator is used for supplying dry air which keeps inner parts of the power equipments moisture-free in the maintenance of transformer, reactor and other large power facilities. It also helps in supplying of oxygen to maintenance staff while working inside the equipment which is more reliable, economic, convenient and safer than nitrogen.
Types of hot air generators
There are two types of hot air generators-direct and indirect. In direct type, hot recirculation gases get mixed with burner flue gases and outlet temperatures which take the temp as high as 1200 degree centigrade. In indirect type, air is heated with combustion flue gas like in steam boiler.
