Packaged Boilers are shell and tube boilers with internal furnace which is concentric or eccentric inside the shell. There is no separate external furnace.
Since the furnace is packed inside the shell, the surface of the furnace is also immersed inside water at high pressure. It also act as heating surface there by reducing the heat loss and increases boiler efficiency.
Based on the firing method, it is classified into 3 types.
- Shell and tube manual solid fuel fired
- Shell and tube bubble bed for pulverized fuel
- Shell & Tube with oil / gas as fuel
